What is a Request for Subletting?

A ‘Request for Subletting’ is a formal petition made by a homeowner or tenant within a Homeowner Association (HOA) managed community. The request is made with the intention of renting out their property, or part of it, to a third-party tenant for a specific period. This is different from a regular lease where the homeowner or tenant vacates the property and the third-party tenant becomes the primary occupant.

Subletting can often provide a solution for homeowners who need to temporarily move out but do not want to leave their property vacant. It maintains occupancy and can provide an income source for the owner. However, not all HOAs allow subletting, and those that do often have strict rules and guidelines in place to govern the process.

HOA Rules and Regulations
